Humble Beginnings
In 1985, Sara Trollinger, a former school teacher, was led by the Lord to establish a faith-based ministry called House of Hope in Orlando, a residential home where hurting, troubled teens could learn to accept responsibility, submit to authority, and to get along with peers and adults. The emphasis is a Christ-centered approach to heal the spirit, soul and body and to heal and restore teens and their families. Sara started the faith ministry with five people praying and $200 and, today, House of Hope has changed the lives of thousands of young people, their families, and countless friends.

House of Hope in Tampa
As an affiliate of the National House of Hope in Orlando (
www.nationalhouseofhope.org
), House of Hope Tampa Bay will be the regional resource for hurting teens. We want to reach these teens and bring about healing, reconciliation, and restoration. What differentiates this ministry from others is the mandate that the entire family is counseled along with the healing of their teen. This has resulted in a 95% success rate in restoring lives and families through Christ-centered counseling, education and guidance in the 22 years of ministry through the House of Hope program. Compare this to Florida’s juvenile system in which 42% of the juveniles committed become repeat offenders.

Local Support
House of Hope Tampa Bay is a Christian, non-denominational, incorporated charity with a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status and is certified by Florida Association of Christian Child Care Agencies, Inc. (FACCCA). This outreach is an example of how communities can pull together to rescue teenagers from the streets and treat their problems effectively, without receiving government funding. House of Hope is a faith ministry, depending upon the community, local churches, businesses, and individuals, along with occasional grants and foundations, for continued support.

Healing Hurts
House of Hope Tampa Bay will provide both non-resident and resident counseling, fully accredited educational services, and residential quarters for the teens admitted into the program. The teen residents can complete the program in eight to eighteen months depending on their individual performance and growth. Teens come from every walk of life and every socio-economic level. No one is turned away because of lack of financial ability. House of Hope Tampa Bay will not only be a refuge, but a God-guided, life-changing experience that will result in transforming these teens into productive members of society.
